The Sword and Rod of the Lord
Leviticus 26:25 And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.
Numbers 21:14 Wherefore it
is said in the book of the wars of the Lord, What he did in the Red
sea, and in the brooks of Arnon,
Deuteronomy 32:41 If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me.
1 Samuel 5:9 And it was so,
that, after they had carried it about, the hand of the Lord was against the city
with a very great destruction: and he smote the men of the city, both small and
great, and they had emerods in their secret parts.
1 Samuel 6:5 Wherefore ye
shall make images of your emerods, and images of your mice that mar the land;
and ye shall give glory unto the God of Israel: peradventure he will lighten his hand from
off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land.
1 Chronicles
21:12 Either three years' famine; or
three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of
thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of
the Lord, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of
the Lord destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now
therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.
Job 9:34 Let him take
his rod away
from me, and let not his fear terrify me:
Isaiah 9:4 For thou hast
broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of
his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.
Isaiah 10:15 Shall the axe boast
itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify
itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself
against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no
wood.
Isaiah 10:24 Therefore thus
saith the Lord God of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be
not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against
thee, after the manner of Egypt.
Isaiah 10:26 And
the Lord of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the
slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after
the manner of Egypt.
Isaiah 11:4 But with
righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of
the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of
his lips shall he slay the wicked.
Isaiah 53:1 Who hath
believed our report? and to whom is the arm of
the Lord revealed?
Jeremiah 21:6 And I will smite the
inhabitants of this city, both man and beast: they shall die of a great
pestilence.
Jeremiah 47:6 O thou sword of
the Lord, how long will it be ere thou be quiet? put up thyself into
thy scabbard, rest, and be still.

is upon the Chaldeans, saith the Lord, and upon the inhabitants of
Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men.

is upon the liars; and they shall dote: a sword is
upon her mighty men; and they shall be dismayed.

A sword
is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled
people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is
upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed.

Violence is risen up into a rod of wickedness: none of them shall
remain, nor of their multitude, nor of any of their's: neither shall there
be wailing for them.
Ezekiel
11:8-10 Ye have feared the sword;
and I will bring a sword upon you, saith the Lord God.
And I will
bring you out of the midst thereof, and deliver you into the hands of strangers,
and will execute judgments among you.
Ye shall fall
by the sword; I will judge you in
the border of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
Ezekiel 20:37 And I will
cause you to pass under the rod, and I
will bring you into the bond of the covenant:
Ezekiel
21:9-10 Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith the Lord;
Say, A sword, a sword is
sharpened, and also furbished:
It is
sharpened to make a sore slaughter; it is furbished that it may glitter:
should we then make mirth? it contemneth the rod of my son, as every tree.
Ezekiel
21:11-15 And he hath given it to be furbished, that it may be
handled: this sword is sharpened, and it is furbished, to give it
into the hand of the slayer.
Cry and howl,
son of man: for it shall be upon my people, it shall be upon all the
princes of Israel: terrors by reason of the sword shall
be upon my people: smite therefore upon thy thigh.
Because it
is a trial, and what if the sword contemn even the rod?
it shall be no more, saith the Lord God.
Thou
therefore, son of man, prophesy, and smite thine hands together. and let the sword be
doubled the third time, the sword of
the slain: it is the sword of the great men that are slain, which
entereth into their privy chambers.
I have set the
point of the sword against all their gates, that their
heart may faint, and their ruins be multiplied: ah! it is made bright, it
is wrapped up for the slaughter.
Ezekiel
21:28-32And thou, son of man, prophesy and say, Thus saith the
Lord God concerning the Ammonites, and concerning their reproach;
even say thou, The sword, the sword is
drawn: for the slaughter it is furbished, to consume because of the
glittering:
Whiles they
see vanity unto thee, whiles they divine a lie unto thee, to bring thee upon
the necks of them that are slain, of the wicked, whose day is come, when their iniquity
shall have an end.
Shall I cause
it to return into his sheath? I will judge thee in the place where thou wast
created, in the land of thy nativity.
And I will
pour out mine indignation upon thee, I will blow against thee in the
fire of my wrath, and deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, and
skilful to destroy.
Thou shalt be
for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt
be no more remembered: for I
the Lord have spoken it.
Ezekiel 32:10 Yea, I will
make many people amazed at thee, and their kings shall be horribly afraid for
thee, when I shall brandish my sword before them; and they shall tremble at every
moment, every man for his own life, in the day of thy fall.

see thy name: hear ye the rod,
and who hath appointed it.

the thoughts and intents of the heart.
